Financial Benefits of Subhadra Yojana

  • Amount Installment : All the eligible women will receive ₹10,000 annually in two installments of ₹5,000. The first installment is disbursed on Raksha Bandhan and the second on International Women’s Day (which falls on 8th of March).
  • Empowerment : This financial support allows women to take on a more meaningful share of household finances and household financial and decision-making.
  • SUBHADRA Card : All the beneficiaries would be provided a SUBHADRA Card (ATM-cum-debit card).
  • Additional Incentive : To encourage digital transactions, the Government will launch a comprehensive rewards and recognition program also. Under this, 100 women in each Gram Panchayat/ Urban Local Body who completed the highest number of digital transactions, in a particular financial year would receive an  additional benefit of Rs.500 in their bank account.

Who Can Apply for Subhadra Yojana?

To apply, make sure you meet the eligibility requirements of the Subhadra Yojana. Here’s a breakdown of the key criteria.

  • Residence: The women should be residents of Odisha State.  
  • Age Limit: To be eligible under the scheme, applicants must be at least 21 years old but under 60 years of age as of the specified qualifying date. The age will be determined based on the date of birth recorded on the Aadhaar card.

    For the financial year 2024-25, a woman must be at least 21 years old but under 60 years of age as of July 1, 2024. Accordingly, eligible applicants should have a date of birth between July 2, 1964, and July 1, 2003, inclusive. The date of birth recorded on the Aadhaar card will be considered final for determining eligibility.

    For 2024-25, women who turn 21 years old after July 1, 2024, will receive ₹10,000 annually, but only for the remaining years of the scheme’s duration. Similarly, women who turn 60 years old after July 1, 2024, will not be eligible for benefits for the remaining years of the scheme.
  • Gender: This scheme is only for women.
  • Employment Status: Women should not be employed by the government.   
  • Income Limit: Women’s annual income should be less than ₹2.5 lakh.   
  • Household Limitation: The scheme is allowed for only one woman in a family.   

Women falling under any of the following categories will not be ineligible to receive the benefits under the scheme:

Financial Assistance : A woman will be deemed ineligible if she receives financial assistance of ₹1,500 or more per month or ₹18,000 or more annually under any State or Central Government scheme. Additionally, the following conditions apply to determine ineligibility:

Current or Former Public Representatives : Women who are, or have family members who are:

  • Current or former Members of Parliament (MP) or Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).
  • Elected public representatives in Urban Local Bodies or Panchayati Raj Institutions (excluding Ward Members or Councillors).

Income Tax Payees : Women who are themselves, or have family members who are, Income Tax payees.

Government Employment : Women who are:-

  • Regular or contractual employees of the State Government, Central Government, Public Sector Undertakings, Boards, Local Bodies, or other Government organizations.
  • Retirees receiving a pension after retirement. However, workers receiving honorariums (e.g., ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, Community Resource Persons, Master Book Keepers) or those engaged through outsourcing agencies may be eligible if they meet other scheme criteria.

Appointed Government Representatives : Women who hold elected, nominated, or appointed positions in any Government department, undertaking, board, or organization.

Vehicle Ownership : Women who own four-wheeled motor vehicles, excluding tractors, mini-trucks, small commercial vehicles, and similar light goods vehicles.

Land Owned : If the family of the applicant owns more than 5 acres of irrigated land or 10 acres of non- irrigated land.

Special Cases:

Asha and Anganwadi workers can also apply. They are ineligible, however, if their spouse is 1 a government employee.   

Women from families not covered under a National Food Security Act (NFSA) or State Food Security Scheme (SFSS) card can also apply if family income is below ₹2.5 lakh per annum. It will require an income certificate when such cases arise.

Documents Required for Subhadra Yojana Application

  • Aadhaar Card : It is primary identification proof, and is required for online registration.
